flute and feather

Shadadhara pratishta is a sacred consecration ritual that is performed before the construction of a temple in Kerala architecture performed for Maha Kshetras. The ritual involves digging a hole exactly at the place where the Idol will be installed and placing six specific objects, typically precious stones, within the foundation. The six structures are Aadharashila (Foundation stone), Nidhikumbha (pot of gems), Ashtadalapadma (eight-petaled lotus), Koorma (stone of tortoise), Yoganala (copper Tube) and Napumsakashila (neutral stone).

Significance of Shadadhara pratistha

flute and feather
This is a rare and immensely sacred ritual in a temple’s consecration process to bring a connection between the Temple deity and the physical space. Just as the subtle body of the human being has six power centres or chakras, the six structures installed in a temple can be seen as the power centres of the subtle body of the Temple deity. This process ensures activation and harmonization of the energy of the space and installs divine presence in the temple structure itself. It is one of the most advanced forms of consecrations or Pratiṣṭhā, emphasizing the sacredness and rarity of this divine occasion.

Why should I participate?
Attending in person or making an offering

The key benefits and spiritual significance of participating in this sacred ceremony as per Vedic Scriptures are:

Be part of a historic beginning occurring in the divine presence of Brahmarishi Mohanji which will benefit generations to come and obtain the blessings and grace of Lord Guruvayurappan Krishna for yourself, your family and lineage.

Note

In case, the amount required for the pujas, annadaan and other categories has been met due to more number of people making an offering/samarpan, any excess funds would be used towards the construction of the Vrindavan Guruvayurappan temple.
